Call for Entries: CINEMAPÚA Student Short Film Festival ‘21

Aiming to showcase the skills of students in producing short films and appreciating the value of filmmaking, Mapua University’s School of Media Studies in partnership with Film Arts and Media Enthusiasts (Mapua-FAME) brings CINEMAPÚA Student Short Film Festival 2021.


It is open to all college, senior and junior high school students from all universities, colleges and high schools in the Philippines and the deadline for the submission of entries is on September 30, 2021.

1. CineMapua 2021 is open to all college, senior & junior high school students from all universities, colleges, and high schools in the Philippines.


2. The film entry must be a narrative feature and must have an actual maximum length of 20 minutes and a minimum of 10 minutes including the credits.


3. The entry must be a live-action video or animation, in a narrative format, of any of the following genres: drama, comedy, musical, action, suspense, historical, science fiction, or adventure.


4. Films using regional dialects must have English subtitles.


5. The music or the song used in the entry must be original or must secure a permit from the original artist to use the song or music.


6. The competition has three (3) categories:

-Collegiate Category

-High School Category

-All Mapúans Category


7. Collegiate Category is a category for college students from all universities & colleges in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao from January 2019 to August 2021.


8. High School Category is a category for senior and junior high school students from all universities, colleges & high schools in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao from January 2019 to August 2021.


9. All Mapúans Category is an exclusive category for Mapua college, senior high school, and master students from Intramuros campus and Makati campus from January 2019 to August 2021.


10. Student filmmakers can have a maximum of 2 film entries.


11. The film entry must be submitted in soft copy using MP4 format together with a maximum 1-minute film teaser (in soft copy, MP4 format), and film poster in 16x20 size (soft copy).


12. All requirements must be submitted online by following these steps:


Step 1: Upload the following requirements: a copy of the Film; Teaser; Poster; and Completed Entry Form on your Google drive account in one folder. (You may download the entry form on this link: https://bit.ly/3u0RLqt


Step 2: Send the shareable link of the folder to cinemapuastudentfilmfest@gmail.com


Step 3: Wait for the confirmation of submission from CineMapúa via email.


13. The deadline for the submission of the film entry is on September 30, 2021, not later than 5:00 p.m.


14. All submitted films will be screened to select the Top 10 for Collegiate Category; Top 10 for High School Category; and Top 10 for All Mapúans Category.


15. The announcement of the top 10 films for all categories will be on October 10, 2021, at 7:00 p.m. via Cinemapua's Facebook page and School of Media Studies microsite and Facebook page.


16. The Top 10 films for all categories are the finalists and the official entries of Cinemapúa 2021.


17. The 2021 CineMapúa Film Festival Week will be held tentatively on November 8-13, 2021.


18. The winners will be announced during the 'CineMapúa Gabi ng Parangal 2021.'


19. The Criteria for Judging:


a. Directing (20 points)

c. Editing (15 points)

d. Story Concept (15 points)

e. Sound Design (15 points)

f. Characterization (10 points)

g. Production Design (10 points)


20. The prizes of the winners:


Collegiate Category

Cardinal Gold Film Award – P10,000 plus Cinemapua trophy

Cardinal Silver Film Award – P7,000 plus Cinemapua trophy

Cardinal Bronze Film Award – P5,000 plus Cinemapua trophy


All Mapúans Category

Cardinal Gold Film Award – P10,000 plus Cinemapua trophy

Cardinal Silver Film Award – P7,000 plus Cinemapua trophy

Cardinal Bronze Film Award – P5,000 plus Cinemapua trophy


High School Category

Cardinal Gold Film Award – P7,000 plus Cinemapua trophy

22.The decision of the Board of Judges is final. The judges will have the rights not to give an award to any of the mentioned categories if no entry should merit it.
