MANILA, Philippines — Silip@Lente has officially opened REALIFILM 2022 with the theme, “Go Overboard: Withstand Obstacles of Disarray”; announced on its official Facebook page last February 7, 2022. The registration has started on the opening day and is still ongoing until March 8, 2022.
Realifilm is a major event of Silip@Lente—AdU that takes place once every year that provides a platform for all the passionate and talented college students who create films and aspire to be a professional filmmaker in the future.
The event is aiming to showcase the creativities and art of storytelling in different genres through filmmaking of college students inside and outside the university. The chosen films of different production teams will be united at the Realifilm’s Film Festival via Zoom on March 19 to exhibit and feature their quality masterpieces. This year’s theme focuses on continuing to courageously face all the challenges brought about by the pandemic without reservations.
“The theme is about overcoming obstacles amidst the pandemic. As stated in the mechanics, the film should be aligned with the theme, with that being said, film entries should have [been] done during the times of this pandemic,” said Ms. Grace Mayate, the event directress and the Vice President for Internal Affairs of Silip@Lente—AdU.
Aside from the film festival, there will also be a 2-session WebinarSerye that is scheduled on March 12 & 13. At least 150 participants are targeted to attend in the webinar including the audiences from Adamson University. The WebinarSerye will be led by the exceptional guest speakers who will talk about their knowledge, experiences, and expertise in the field of filmmaking. The Realifilm awards night will take place on March 26, 2022. Both events will happen via Zoom Meetings.
As Realifilm 2022 will still be done online, Silip@Lente advised the participating production teams and/or independent filmmakers not to shoot outdoors or in crowded public areas and adhere to the local regulations set by the government, recognizing that the country is still in the pandemic.
Ms. Emmelyn Bela-ong, the Academic Directress of Silip@Lente—AdU, also shared her sentiment for this big event.
“We made this possible to give them a platform to showcase what our young filmmakers got today, their talents, passion, and dedication. Our goal is to help them shine as they continue to believe that they can contribute to the life of our country's filmmaking industry in the future.”
